TAM PhD students Ira Mautner (Physics) and Michaela Dobson (Environment) organised and hosted a mini-symposium on Astrobiology in February 2021 that attracted 170 enrollments from mainly postgraduate students within the university.
It was sponsored by the “Our World and Universe” Faculty of Science Research Theme headed by Mike Rowe, Nick Rattenbury’s Research Enhancement Grant, and The School of Graduate Studies “Creating Connections Grant”.
It included a live keynote address by NASA Mars scientist Dr Mitch Schulte only a week after the Perseverance rover landed at Jezero Crater, and talks by TAM academics Kathy Campbell, Emily Parke and Nick Rattenbury. The event highlighted a strong interest for postgraduate connections across faculties in the Astrobiology space.
