His current research is mostly inter-disciplinary across different spheres such as medicinal chemistry, structural biology, and drug discovery/development. He is deeply curious about fundamental biochemistry and in particular how the biology we have now come to understand first arose.
His early postgraduate science education was in physical and organic chemistry with early publications in organic chemical synthesis. Here, he would describe his research activities as eclectic that span both fundamental and applied areas of chemistry/biology including natural product research, protein structure/function, and metabolic disease.
